We've been able to partner with several schools over the last five years (primarily Ryan Elementary) to work on a special program: childhood literacy.
A child's ability to read at grade level by the third grade is one of the biggest predictors of future scholastic success, a good indicator of future employment, and one of the most effective ways to help low-income children break out of a cycle of poverty.
By simply reading with the children once a week, we help encourage and equip them for future success.
