Heroes are important to us because they show us what happens when ordinary people make extraordinary decisions to do what is right even at great cost to themselves. We're planning on having several messages on heroes throughout the year and our hope is that, as we listen to how their faith in Jesus caused them to act in heroic ways, we would be inspired to make our own decisions to act according to our faith.

If a mother is "someone who shapes a soul", then there are many different ways to answer the call to motherhood. Brian takes the opportunity to honor those who answer this call and gives examples of three different women in history who show the many different ways that this heroic feminine virtue plays out in the world.

In this particular message, Brian tells the stories of some of those heroes who, inspired by their faith in Jesus, made the difficult choice to defend and protect the Jewish people during the Holocaust. Our hope is that, as we listen to how their faith in Jesus caused them to defend the oppressed, we would take courage and find ways to help those who are oppressed in our own lives.
