Up coming Events
Format:
Faith & Reason events take place four times a year (twice a semester) on Friday evenings at 6pm. Each event starts with dinner (pizza, salad, alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments), a video lecture (or montage), and facilitated discussion groups. The lecture is typically broken into two or three parts to more effectively facilitate topical discussions on the content. The group facilitators lead their groups of 5-7 people through a set of open-ended and personal discussion questions and everyone has space to speak for two minutes. Many find that the video lectures provide thought-provoking, educational content and discussion group structure facilitates a real depth of conversation very quickly and creates a safe space for everyone.
Target audience:
Faith & Reason is open to all ages, backgrounds, and worldviews. Many discussion groups often span multiple generations. Respectful disagreement is warmly welcome and encouraged.
Content:
Most event topics are sourced via popular demand from the community. The video lectures themselves are chosen by Faith & Reason’s leadership team, who vet lectures and dialogues of experts who provide thoughtful perspectives on the topics of interest and whether their posture aligns with the mission statement above.
